Trick

Just finished watching 2 seasons of japanese drama series 2 days ago. It's called Trick.
If you are a fan of Jing Tian Yi, then you would want to watch this as well, as promoted to me by KL. And so i decided to give it a try, and hey, it's not bad!

It's about this magician and how she solved many seemingly mysterious and strange murder cases. Pretty intelligent i would say, for some of the cases, especially the mirror tricks. And they also taught many card tricks too~ Behind every mystery is a trick, hoho.. But even though i know beforehand that the 'unexplainables' would be eventually explained by the skillful technics and tricks, i'm still spooked by it man.. Would have screamed if it wasn't late at night when everyone was asleep. haha..

But it's nice! I recommend you all to watch!

...

There is no solution..
No matter how i tried to think, how i tried to find an answer...
There is no solution.......

I wish time would stop now... stop it from slipping through my fingers. No matter how i tried to slow it or stop it, it still runs... at its usual fast speed, at its relentless consistency...

One after another...
Tired.
Overwhelmed,
And soon.. maybe numbed.

Memories... it's hard to be the only one to keep it alive.....

RAnts...

Came here to dust off the cobwebs here...

And also shuan bian mention i love the dao xiang song in Jay's new album~~

So sweeeeeeeet!!!

Anyway, life's still pretty boring for me, maybe i should start learning how to bake cookies too~ Lolx...

And i kinda dread November... Because EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND IS BURNT! :'(((

Sighs.. i missed school life.

Yeah, i know, i shouldn't be complaining since the economy is so bad right now and some people even got unemployed.. (That's what almost everyone commented to me whenever i complained.) But can't i just complain?? Letting off some steam is a way of coping with stress also. Haha...

And a few weeks ago i was talking to mom, i can't remember the topic but somehow it led to us talking about my US trip. Man, suddenly missed it badly... Then the next few days keep seeing the cereal bars , the haagen daaz ice cream, the pop-tarts at supermarkets... Now watched the high school musical also reminded me of all the songs we used to hear everyday at the closing of the cedar point. Getting nostalgic all of a sudden...

Oh man, i'm indulging myself in my own reminisce again...

okok, gotta go~~

till nxt time~

Singapore's F1 Grand Prix~

I've been watching Wei Xiao Pasta recently.. though quite lame, but i still like the sweet happy mood of the show. And the song is stuck on me~ Lol... Enjoy!

Anyway, yesterday's F1 Grand Prix was exciting indeed.

1st of all, the lightings on the circuit was superb~ When Channel 5 showed the view of the Marina Bay streets, ECP was totally faint as compared to the glowing bright tracks of the circuit. So if you take a plane above Singapore, you'll probably only see the circuit in the whole city. Cool..

The world's first night race~~

Then next the drivers... I was hoping Felipe Massa would win, since i don't really like Lewis Hamilton (cos he actually missed our President's lunch! What arrogance!). Massa was leading Hamilton steadily for the first 15 laps, until his first pit stop. I couldn't believe my eyes when i saw the fuel pipe broke, and the Ferrari dragging the broken pipe behind, almost dragging the mechanic guy along. Omg... Then he drove quite a distance, and the pipe did not break off, forcing him to stop and lose the precious half min. In addtion, he was also awarded a drive through penalty for this blunder. Man... That cost him not only the race, but the world championship as well!!!!!! All just because he was given the green light too early~!! My heart totally went out to him. Sighs... Seems like Hamilton will still take the championship home after all.

But then Fernando Alonso was really great, he truly deserved to win. He had started from 15th position (due to his engine break down in the qualifying round), and made his way all up to 1st! Truly incredible... Maybe it's what you call an equilibrium of luck here. Though he clocked the fastest lap times in both practice rounds, he actually got 15th in the qualifying round...yes, due to his faulty engine. Of all times! it's only during the sat's QR2, the critical round that determines his position in GP, that his engine broke. He was totally down in luck, everyone predicted it'll take a miracle to win the race. And what do you know, by a 180 degrees turn of luck, miracle did arrive. First his team mate crashed, closing the gap between him and the leading Massa, then Massa's pit stop disaster, followed by Hamilton's delay at the pit stop and later, Rosberg's 10-sec penalty. All paving the way for him to the first trophy. But of course besides luck, you need skill as well... Even though all these give him a 23-sec lead over Rosberg, it was all brought to nought when Force India crashed at lap 53, bringing out the safety car again. It's definitely thanks to his experience and driving skills that he maintained the lead and won Rosberg by 3 secs~

So you see, when you think things couldn't have gotten any worse, don't give up, cos who knows? Good luck may be just behind~ :)

Hope that applies to Massa and his Ferrari team too, in the remaining 3 races~ Ha...

What an exciting race... It has definitely gained my attention towards f1 races from now on.

Yup, so that's the end of my first experience watching an F1 race and i shall end here with Alonso's trademark action right after his win.

tata~

*finger waves*

I still think Ferrari is quite cool~ Ha..

Painted Skin

Oops.. Didn't realise i neglected my blog for almost a month!! Omg..

Nothing much to update..

Except maybe i spent a lot this month.. Celebrating birthdays is one of the major expenditures..
Sept is a bad month, cos many of my friends are born in this month. Maybe i should just make myself sick for the whole of Sept nxt time... stay home and hide my wallet. Hah..

Shopping and eating is another. This month i ate plenty of buffets, treating my family/relative and some friends, cos they say i got my first (?) pay.. And i recently bought a few more shoes, and black pants.. since i have been wearing black pants everyday to work, that it's almost my uniform by now. lol.. I also bought several drama sets from TS.

Together with travelling and my handphone bills, i think i've spent about half my salary in less than 2 weeks!! Faints. Next month onwards have to watch out already. :S

Anyway, last week went to Werks to take family portrait. I'm still quite disappointed that they don't provide make up service at all, because many other photo studios out there do. And i look quite cui in the photos, especially i woke up at 7.30am to prepare for the shoot! (the appointment time was 9.30am). Plus it's quite ex also. Sighs.. oh well, once in a lifetime lor...

Yesterday went to watch Painted Skin with mf and her friends. When the rest of Singapore was in town, catching the F1 craze. It was quite an impromptu decision actually, she only asked me yesterday afternoon. But hey, the movie turned out not bad, quite watchable.. not as boring as i thought as a typical ancient Chinese film would turn out to be. haha.. It's quite a balanced mix of love, action, and a little humor, with the usual combination of demons and ghostbusters in a typical wu xia xiao shuo scene. Plus, the actors and actresses are okay looking also. so it's quite worth watching. haha~

But one thing i don't really understand why the movie is called Painted Skin. Yeah it sure sounds intriguing.. but when it comes to the movie itself, there really isn't much emphasis of the skin at all. Except only 1 scene when Zhou Xun peeled out her human skin, revealing her true form, which is a human shape made of countless worms or maggots or whatever it is. Ya, and it probably takes up 1-2 mins of the entire movie. That's it. No mention of that skin throughout the movie other than that scene.

After that, mf began discussing the movie, talked about how the guy betrayed his wife by having fantasies about the other woman, analysed what it means when the guy said this sentence or what it means when Zhao Wei did that. I think the producer would be damn happy that someone out there actually appreciate his movie so much that she analysed to such detail.

Qi Yu Wu is in there too~

Haha.. this is one of the rare times i actually go out for social outings man.. Kinda miss the old days when i could go out and chat wif old friends like this, without worrying about waking up early the next morning for work. In fact, tomorrow still have to work sia! :'( And today actually planned a celebration for some friends, then i had to receive this sms by Yongle saying bhid session is cancelled today cos many residents are sick. What a great disappointment man.. after all that planning and discussion. But oh well, hope the residents get well soons~

Okay got to go... F1 qualifying rounds is on!!!

Blog another time~

F1 qualifying rounds starting in 5 mins!

Read! Singapore, volunteer workshop, storytelling competition

Last wed was a long day... I only ended at 9.30pm at night!!! That's due to us having to help out at Read! Singapore closing ceremony, and that's cos it's our department's event and we only have a limited no. of manpower. So if there's any event, the whole department is quan ti chu dong one... I'm supposed to usher the guests of honour that day, sighs and i totally freaked out. Our guests of honour includes our CE, director as well as the AMK MP. Heard the mp is a no-nonsense person, and after that table tennis thing that's going on, i pray i don't step on her toes or anything.

So we spent 1 whole day at the Pod (at National Library) preparing for the event. It sure is a lot of work for just a 2-3 hours event man.. going through the schedule, making sure everything is in place, wrap the gifts, prepare the food and everything~ Oh and we also ordered little cupcakes, specially designed for our Read Singapore event, for all our guests! They sure look enticing... but unfortunately, it's only look, guess they have much more room for improvement in the taste department. (I chuck off the whole piece of icing on the top!)

Luckily the ceremony went smoothly in general, though there's a little hitch on the playing of the video, but thankfully no one noticed. Ha... And seeing the MP in person, i think she seems to be a nice lady quite unlike what the newspapers wrote. But oh well, of course i can't say much since i don't know her well after all.

And throughout the whole thing i was so busy, that i totally forgot that i'm supposed to meet kl!!! =O! Feeling super guilty at 10 pm when i first saw the msg on the train back. But luckily she's smart enough to guess that would happen, so she didn't wait... Otherwise, i'll feel damn bad sia.

So that day was totally tiring.. Especially my poor feet! Having to stand on heels for the whole day is sheer torture i tell you!

And talking about torture~ Today is my only free day!! Argh. Last weekend was burnt cos i've to man the Active Aging Carnival booth at Ngee Ann City. And yesterday was totally gone as well, because we have this 10k fathers closing ceremony in the morning, and then i have to rush to prepare for the volunteers' workshop right after.

Oh and about this workshop, I actually have to start off the programme by giving a 20 mins presentation on kidsREAD! Because my boss have to stay at WRL to help out for the 10k fathers event. So on thurs, when she told me for the first time, i totally freaked out (again). And i only got the slides on Friday! PLUS i only end at 7pm on that day~!! It's damn jialat for me, cos i absolutely hate presenting. I've to spent like 1-2 hours going through the slides and thinking of what to say sia.. Terrible man...

And yesterday during the workshop, suddenly there is about 30 people in that room sia~ Usually it's only 10+! And this time there are 5-6 australians, together with many many international students! Usually the people are all Singaporeans! Almost faint~

So during the presentation, i put on a brave front (which i think i must be pretty good at, since my friend told me later that i'm not bad during the presentation heh.), and thankfully, nothing really went wrong, except that i took only 15 mins to say what i'm supposed to say in 30 mins?? Haha... But in any case, that's experience of the giving a kidsREAD presentation to the volunteers for the first time... And i still dread the next one, coming next month. I really hope my boss would offer to present instead of me. Heh.

Then at night, i went for this storytelling show at the Old Parliament House, now the Arts House. Actually i didn't really wanna go for this show, cos i've already have plans to meet jh they all... But this ticket was given by my boss's boss, and she said can't find anyone and these tix are real ex AND this is really relevant to my jobscope..... So i've no choice but to postpone what seem to be one of my rare social meetings of the week, at the last min. Sighs...

Luckily the 2 more major events are over now... I need some rest man.. Need time with my family, friends and also myself! Think i'll take the next 2 fridays off.. Now that i have like 20+ hours to clear! HAha! Shiok~!!

But before that maybe i go sleep first. It's 12.43 am already!!!

CiaoS~~~~~~

PS: Oh btw, i got myself a HP tablet notebook today!! Cool and yet not ex! Exactly like Comex prices and packages!! BUT minus the crowd and the queues! Haha... Apparently, many places are selling their electronic stuffs comparable to the Comex fair... but not many ppl know about it and all chiong to Suntec Convention. Heh.

Orientation

Enjoyed these 2 days of orientation programme~
Cos this means i don't need to be stuck in the office doing the mundane work~~ lolx...

These 2 days of orientation programme quite shiok.
Yesterday went to National Library for a short tour around it. Didn't know there are s many heritage collections there. Almost like a museum sia.

Ended at 5pm yesterday, was quite happy cos this means i can go home earlier (my usual office hours end at 6.30pm). So lalala... i was on the train... Then at redhill station, my colleague called me, " Yiling, i thought you are at the NL? You went off already ar?? Can you come back and help us? We need people!"

Sighs... there goes my dream of reaching home early....yes dream, cos it's no longer a reality. So i turned back with a heavy heart...

In the end, the talk was not too bad... They provide free food and i had fun chatting with this colleagues. Plus there are 4 very 'interesting' individuals.

After the talk got 1 uncle came to me and gave a few feedbacks, about the microphone, the food and the talk. Then later our colleague P, told us that he can already identify 4 people who are not right up there, and that uncle is one of them. Then we were quite shocked, because everyone seemed decent to us. Then he told us about these 4 characters. 1 would always go around and introduce herself as an English teacher, and get phone numbers from the speakers, the authors and so on. But in actual fact, she's actually an umployed lady who always go to the library borrowing the book called memories of life or something. True enough, she was there... talking about that book, and asking for phone numbers... P was damn zun man..

The 2nd one was the most classic one.. P told us she would always tabao all the food back after the events. At first we don't believe, cos she really looked sane and decent and all... Then later, we saw her in action, she tooked her ntuc plastic bags and clear, yes literally cleared all the trays of food~~ Then P was really bad la.. when the lady walked to the lift, with her bags of food... He exclaimed loudly (on purpose)... "Oh NOOoooooo.....!!!! WHERE ARE MY CHICKEN WINGS?!!??!!!" Though she could be the type who really hated to see food being wasted, but the whole scene was really damn funny man... Lol.. And the thought of lumping the chicken wings, samosas, chocolate eclairs and cheese cake all into two plastic bags.... seems a little ... ok nvm.

The other 2 was less extreme. 1 of them always give his feedback after the talks, and P mimicked what the guy always say in his feedback... All i can say is that it was totally uncanny..because that was what that guy told me exactly!! Lol.. The last one is the quiet kind most of the time, but when he gets frustrated he would shout out hysterically in public...

So it's really quite interesting to hear such stories...

And as for today, we went around the main libraries to tour and understand the functions of these libraries.. quite cool... esp the esplanade one.. Can borrow music scores, cds, movies and even screenplay scripts sia...They also allow the public to showcase their piano performance at their open stage.. So cool lo!!

Quite an eye opener today...

Okay.. Will talk another time...
I'm tired man... everyday lack of sleep sia...
Tata!

Shiok-est day so far...

Today's quite shiok...

Worked for half a day.

Went off for lunch at 1pm.

Then after lunch went to collect the tickets, and the drinks & popcorn combo..

The bestest thing is... EvERYtHInG is FOC!!!!!!!!!!!!

The next bestest thing is... Because it's an official company event, so i'm paid while watching movie!!!

Muahahahaa....

So i said, nlb has the most fantastic welfare ever...

But there's a little flaw to this shiok-est day though... The movie isn't really interesting ( i dozed off halfway through the movie)... and the popcorn i can't choose the salted ones.

But i'm not complaining at all though.. It's foc anyway haha...
But if i'm paying for it, i'll definitely have lots to complain. The title is "Mad About English". It's basically a documentary about how the whole China nation are putting efforts in improving their English for the Beijing Olympics. I can't believe how the posters said that this movie is hilarious, because throughout half the movie i can only managed half a smile... while the other half, i simply just slept.

Oh well... maybe this movie can serve as an inspiration for us to prepare for the upcoming F1 event though...that if we all work together, we can also achieve great improvements not so much in our English, but in our standards of conduct. Hopefully when we host our first F1 or YOG, guests won't catch any taxi-snatchers, spitters or gold-diggers in action. (Eeewww...)

Off track again, haha.. But anyway, at the current rate, i believe i'll be staying at nlb for quite some time now...

Ha.

1st time at kuishinbo...

Finally... i got to eat at Kuishinbo after 2 long years man...
Still remember me, Bri and Claud were supposed to go there to celebrate Claud's birthday, but couldn't work it out that time..

Now, finally got to eat there!!
hahaha...

But unfortunately it's cos i'm kena cheated by Bri to treat her part of it...

Oh well...
Anyway, it's really an eye opener... Never seen the legs of a crab so long before~~ about 15 cm know!! And the meat in these legs is as much as the amount of meat in a pincer of a normal crab~ Shiok... That's Alaska Crabs for you... cool...

And first time i tried their well-known paper steamboat... Hmmm... but the soup never ever boils even after the fire went out... faints.. haha...

Bri recommend me to try their soba... Well, agree. Their sobas are pretty good. I even had 2 bowls of that!! hahah shiok...

Other than these more unique dishes, there's also the normal sashimis, the teppanyakis (did i spell correctly?), the normal desserts, the choc fondue and stuff... Not bad...

The most interesting thing in this restaurant is that they have this "tong tong tong kuishinbo" time when only the first 30 customers who chiong to the counter will their limited dish/dessert. And i got 2 out of 4!! lol... One of them is the orange sorbet, which is served in this little orange-shaped container. Cute...

Then me and Bri had a really good chat over there... Oh well, this dinner i really think is for her to nag de... Lol... jkjk. But it's really a great heart-to-heart chat. =)

Hope we have such chats more often...

Okies, gotta catch up my constant lacking beauty sleep~~

Run NUS

This is the first time i took part in Run NUS...
Of course i only participated in the Mass Run, which i already think it's quite far already. Lol...
For the competitive category, the route is 10km long lor~~ Okay to me it's super far.

But overall okay lar, when you have a friend to chat with, the run doesn't feel that far after all.
Can't imagine if i run alone man, i''ll probably feel that the run takes years to complete. Haha...

This time there are about 460 people who took part in the mass run, and 200-300 in the competitive category. The route starts from the stadium, to UCC, to Clementi Road, to Kent Ridge Crescent, to Biz bridge, to Prince George's Park, then along the road where the fright night houses are, to Central Library, then finally back to the ending point at the stadium again.

It's quite an experience to run around the campus the first time. Not bad... And no matter what, i have completed 5km after all!!! ha!

Arts workshop, first time volunteering at kidsREAD

Today i'm feeling overall okay, but rethinking the day i feel that today's experience are actually quite interesting.

Meet an arts workshop trainer to discuss about the workshop for the volunteers.
Just this meeting itself had me experienced lotsa mixed feelings, which is a long story....
But anw in summary, she forgot about our meeting the other day and today she was still late by like half an hour! I can tell you i was so on the verge of smsing her "the meeting is off".

But then later when we finally meet, she explained to me her reasons, i forgave her. She turned out to be an interesting person, bubbly and energetic, that i couldn't be angry with her for long. Sighs...

Anw, it seems that her life was quite drama. Her student got involved in an accident, was paralysed and ever since suffered from brain damage. Before the accident, he was a popular rugby captain in JC, had Miss Singapore as his girlfriend and things were going smoothly for him. But after the accident, everything changed. He got very hostile most of the time, no longer the good-looking person he was before, girlfriend and many of his friends left him, and his IQ went back to primary school level. Omg... it's really really sad.. i mean, the plunge after being at the top of the world. If it were me, i wouldn't even know if i can live that long.. But it's really the parents who suffered the most... the guy would probably not understand nor experience this sadness due to his current intelligence, but the parents, who witnessed the whole situation with a clear mind, it's indeed a tragedy..

Oops, i'm off the point again.. but to cut the story short, she's involved in his case, a court case in fact, and she may need to be present during court to give her testimony. The whole case got really complicated and actually involves PI even. omg... sounds totally like what you see in dramas man.

Not only that, she worked in Nickelodeon before, was an illustrator of a storybook and had an interesting editor friend with a mild case of OCD.

There are really interesting people out there. My life on the other hand, looked blank and like a white sheet compared to them. In fact everyone in my office seemed really knowledgeable, very analytical and very up to date with the current affairs, so much so that i feel kinda a little stressed working in that environment. But oh well... we'll see as we go along...

Oh yar, this week a new colleague came. Perhaps we are similarly blur, or maybe she's just very sociable, we hit it off pretty okay. First time i actually see some light in the office. lol.. But nope, she's not our age, she's in her 30s, has a husband and children, something EVERY colleague in my department has... except me of course.

Then we had an interesting session called Gym in the Pocket, before we end work. It's like a huge rubberband which you can use it to do your gym exercises, be it toning your biceps, triceps or trim your tummy area, this simple rubberband can help you do it all. First time i saw such a product. lol...

And after work, i had to rush back to Gombak to volunteer at the reading club with my friends. As to why i went to volunteer, that's another long story.
But anyway, i kinda had to drag my feet when i reach there. I mean after work, when everyone can rush home, relax and probably catch the Olympics on Channel 5... I had to go to the CC to do volunteer work. How pathetic is that! Esp when fri is when i end work early!! My visionary image of me going shopping with friends aft work on fridays has now totally blown into smithereens. Sighs...

But hey, in the end, it turned out to be quite fun...and that hour actually went by pretty fast. Lols.. thanks to those stupid kids (yes i still dun like kids!), they actually made my day by their stupid silly responses.

Ask them to cut out the T-rex on the paper, one boy go cut off all his teeth and turned him into a "bo-gay" dino. Tell him that's very cruel cos the T-rex can't eat meat anymore, then he say the dino can be vegetarian. I ask, if no teeth he can chew the veg meh?? He say, oh yar hor! okay i feed him porridge.

Then there's the 3 army brothers, (they seem to have gone to the same hairdresser and that hairdresser must have worked in NS before). When they are colouring the dino, one of them asked me what color should he colour the dino's teeth. I said it depends, if they brush their teeth it should be white; if they didn't, then it should be yellow lor. Then he went to the extreme and coloured it green. Faints.

And they dare gang up and bluff me. When i asked do they watch tv at home at all, they say NOoooo... in unison (ya rite!). I replied, how can?? Don't bluff lo!! You all really only do homework most of the time meh?? They still dare say YESSsssss... totally in one voice you know. When i asked whether they know how to spell Spongebob, suddenly they all know how to spell... (Ha! I knew it!). Stupid silly kids... lol..

Then there's also this pair of indian siblings... The big sister is so sweet, she helped to clear up the table after everything, and she also took the broom to help us sweep the floor, while her clown brother was busy stealing their cousin's slippers. lol... But when the clown brother ran and fell down, the sister didn't reprimand her brother "see lar!" like i thought she would. Instead she took his hands and examine whether he's hurt, rubbed his hands and tell him gently not to run again. Such sisterly love at such a young age! I'm truly touched at that sight.

Overall, today's quite an interesting but very tiring day indeed.
Gonna catch up some sleep liao.
Bonne Nuit!

Think there'll be lots more firsts in future...
Hope i can really handle of them well...

Right now i'm indeed a NUS salmon... who just got thrown into the salty ocean after being in the freshwater lake for so long.. Wish i could swim nearer to the shore, but i know i can only move forward.. sighs..

Photo taking at Esplanande & Singapore Flyer!

Started this post on 3rd Aug, 11.13pm...

I still can't believe we did the craziest thing ever today...

We went to Esplanade and Singapore Flyer to take photos...

So what, you'll probably be thinking...

How about taking photos at these places with our graduation gown????

Though it's only me sh and sy, it's unexpectedly quite fun to walk around with our gowns in the public... Especially today when so many tourists are at those places!! Damn paiseh lar, when we first put on our gowns and hats...

National DaY coming SoonS!!
(Finally the glass doors are shut while we are taking e pic~)

Who's Chee Keong??

Nice Esplanade background~~
Great take sy~!!
Thanks for helping us take so many photos that day~!!
Thanks soo much!! :)

Taken by a passer-by, who did a great job!!
The picture is all i asked~ Flowers n esplanade!!

Taken by a caucasian guy,
who finally help us take aft he had finish snapping pics of us with his cam phone..
treat us like part of e tourist attraction sia! :S

People start staring at us... Especially when we reach the merlion at the esplanade, some tourists took photos of us!! FAints! A few came up and congratulate us on our graduation.. haha...

With mini merlion~~

With the original huge one~ Haha..
(Taken by a China lady)

And also got 2 requested to take photos with us.. 1 Caucasian guy, then a French mom and her kid.. Lol... Damn cute lar..

French mom and her kid~
So cute! ^_^

Then because there's only 3 of us, we need to ask tourists along our way to help us take photos.. damn paiseh also.. Out of all these tourists, probably the most memorable one is a German family.. No, should be a big group of two families. They immediately split themselves up just to illustrate to us they are two different families here for different purposes. LOL.. 1 family stays in Singapore and the other came here for vacation... Haha.. They damn cute la, but too bad we didn't take any photos of them so I can't post it here.. Damn animated when they posed for their pics (we helped them take for the whole group)..

Taken by the german dad
the one who lived in Spore~

Later when we were about to leave the merlion, we actually saw another guy in his graduation robe taking photos with his family!!!! LOL... what a coincidence!! And we thought we were the only one!!! HAHa... Since so damn qiao, and he not bad looking also so shun bian ask him take a photo with us lorz... heh.. And from our short introduction, he's also an NUS graduate, graduating from Econs with hons..

All the Arts GRadUAteS! HA!!
And the next crazy thing is, we actually WALKED from Esplanade all the way to Singapore Flyer!!! Faints!! Don't forget we wearing our heels somemore...

At this last destination, we marked the end of our graduation stint...

Ahhh... finally i get to throw this motarboard~~

WooooHOOooo
Bye NUS!!
Bye EssayS!!
BYE STuPID ASSIGNMENT DEADLINES!!!

Went to chill at Jelapeno cafe... After those long walks, we definitely need the cold drinks and the aircon AND the cushion seats!!

But my fusion tea turned out to be a great disappointment....

Then me and sy had our dinner at PopEye's before heading back... where we sat the whole of the red-line from Marina Bay to Bukit BAtok (and JE for sy)!!

Definitely a memorable and satisfying day... =D

PS: Will add the photos to this post soonS!

i miss school and my tv life..

Today's workshop is at one of the secondary schools in Jurong East~
Finally at the WEST!! HAha...
Then after the talk my boss told me i can leave from there by 6pm liao..
Shiok! Can reach home at 6+ instead of the ungodly time of 8+pm!!

What's the first thing i did when i reach home??
Watch TV !!!
I miss my tV soO much man!!!

Watching tv is such a luxury nowadays... =(
Ever since i started work, i've totally no time to interact with this long time companion of mine.
I used to spend at least 2-3 hours with it, but now... Even weekend also no time to pei2 my TV liao... =(

The first week has passed, been to many places, learnt quite a bit of new things. Thought my workload is quite slack, though time-consuming as well... But today my boss gave me a briefing on what is my role here and all... Then i realised this week is like a vacation man... as compared to the responsibilities ahead. Oh man... it's of much more responsibility than i thought. Although i'm glad to have such opportunity, but i don't know i'm able to make it through or not sia.

Guess i've to keep reminding myself this is no longer like the past temp jobs i used to do.

I miss school life~!!! =((

Should i switch or not???
Wed i shall see...

1st week of work...

Oops... i think i'm lagging behind again in blogging liao..
I'll try my best to update all the happenings during this 2 month break after the exams...

But anyway, guess what??

I just came back from work~!!!
Yes, and today's Sun!!
Faints~

okay, so far the job is not bad...
Get to round Singapore, be involved in events and stuff...
Learnt lots over these few days too...
But the people... they are all females! sighs... and quite old females..
Double sighs...
Hope i can find some common topics to talk to them soon~

Anyway, i found this interesting get to know yourself better online quiz... got view on yourself, type of gf/bf, type of job education and success... so many areas sia..

Ha.. hope u all will have fun doing this too~

Your view on yourself:

You are intelligent, honest and sweet. You are friendly to everybody and don't like conflict. Because you're so cheerful and fun people are naturally attracted to you and like to talk to you.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.

The seriousness of your love:
You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.

Your views on education:
You may not like to study but you have many practical ideas. You listen to your own instincts and tend to follow your heart, so you will probably end up with an unusual job.

The right job for you:
You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.

How do you view success:
You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.

What are you most afraid of:
You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.

Who is your true self:
You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

So true ritE???
WAhahaha... Have fun~!!

HK Disneyland Lucky Draw~!!

Don't think this sounds too unfamiliar to you guys if you all have been keeping tabs on kennysia's blog.

Some China woman called me on my mobile 2-3 weeks ago, when i went to play badminton with sy and sh. That china woman told that she's calling from Hong Kong Disneyland, and she asked whether i'm free for their annual dinner or not. Thinking that this call might be another one of those insurance or MLM companies, i simply gave her a lame excuse to reject her. Then after that she told me for a global promotional event, they are giving away a trip to HK Disneyland for 2 to lucky participants in Singapore, Malaysia, and other Chinese populated countries. And yeah, I'm one of the lucky ones~

WOW!!

I gave her my name and add... (in chinese, but the strange thing is they didn't ask me how to write my add in Chinese*. Hmmm...seems like they know how to write my add in Chinese, when i don't even know!) They told me that within 1 week i'll be able to receive it.

(*There's this small part... I told my name in Chinese.. and she laughed and told her colleague in the background that she couldn't continue. I was so offended kay!! So another colleague took over, also with China-accent. Strange... i thought, why hk disney people hv no hk accent at all?? or they cutting cost? But for such a big corporation, don't need to bah... Was a little strange, but i let it pass..)

Shiok!!

Then i asked her, how they got my number... She told me they got it through one of their 200+ sponsors, either from travel agencies or some other lucky draws.

And additionally, they also told me that, as i would not be able to attend the annual dinner or watever shit 晚会, I also would not be able to be present during their grand lucky draw. They gave me a lucky draw no. B168749, and told me to watch the Phoenix Channel (I think, cos i can't really remember what she told me.. She spoke so bloody quick in fluent mandarin..) on Sunday 7pm, and take note of the right hand corner in case my no. would flash and i would win the draw~!!

Since i couldn't remember what channel she said, and i'm also never lucky in such draws so i don't bother watching. Meanwhile i waited... for the tickets to be sent to my place... 1 week later and still no news.

Soon after i totally forgot about the call...

Then last week, coincidentally it was a badminton day with sy again.. I received another call from this HK Disneyland company again...

She first asked me, why i haven't attended the annual dinner... I told her i'm not free.
Then she asked, have i watched the donno-what channel.. I told her no, cos i din catch the channel the other time. She repeated the Channel name again, she said it's a channel which all Chinese people will watch globally... (Wa...she sounds as if all chinese people would suscribe to SCV sia...)
She later told me that it's a pity cos actually i've won the ThirD PRIZE in their annual Lucky Draw!! She verified my lucky draw number B168749, and told me that i've won a Benz CAr~!!! Woohooo~!!!

Happily i gave her my address (in English this time, cos i don't trust them to be able to send correctly to my place if they wrote in mandarin... I mean in singapore, who sends letters in mandarin address??)

She gave me many specific details, like when i receive my cheque i have to bank in that cheque and immediately inform them. She even gave me a hongkong number.. 00852-66312482 to call her if there are any enquiries or doubts. Name is Wang Shu Tian. She kept assuring me that I'm really a very lucky person cos not everyone can win such a huge prize. Probably cos i didn't sound too excited all these while cos i'm busy crossing the road with sy..She checked and re-checked my address quite a few times, told me again and again that once i get the cheque i have to report to her cos she can't afford to take responsibility if the cheque is misplaced. She ended the call, telling me that she'll then inform the lawyer to go ahead with the procedure and reminded me to give her a treat when i attend the press conference in hk.

She sounded so genuine that i half-believed her... And if i really win, I would win a huge sum of money man~~

The next day, I went online to check up the HK Disneyland.. Cos the more i think about it, the more suspicious it is.. I search with all kinds of keywords: HK disneyland, lucky draw, annual dinner... But I didn't manage to find it. Perhaps they don't want to publicize it yet before the draw? Still, the nagging thought... I finally google-ed in HK disneyland lucky draw scam and you know what... There are at least 3 accounts of such cases~~!! All similar to my case!!! Damn... tMDs, WTH!!!!!!! How dare they use names like HK Disneyland and phoenix tv lor!!

Apparently Kennysia, got cheated too last year... His account of it was super funny. Now that i recall, i think sy or kl also only mention this to me only recently~!!! So qiao lor... You guys can have a good laugh here.

And reading all their accounts, i realised that i'm only in Step 2 of these scammers' plot. There is a step 3 and the most crucial step... To ask for a 5% insurance money before they could transmit my prize to me... Which usually is about $2-3k... Stupid A**-h***s!!

I've a good mind to do the same the next time they call me man... Hai me so happy for 1 day for nothing!! Damn! Hai me think so much of wat to do with the money when i've gotten it. WTH! Hai me almost buy my last 4 numbers of my hp no. cos i tink it's a lucky no. In fact, i think this is one of their plots as well... putting your last 4 digits of your hp no. as your lucky draw number. DAmN TMD!!! Cheat my feelings maan!! =(

Which reminds me... how did they get my number in the first place?? I only got my number like 3 months ago, and i didn't give away my new number to many strangers in these 3 months... I came up with a few possibilities...

1) They found my number in the YahooAuctions, Jobstreet, JobsDB..
2) They got my number through lucky draw forms (which i remember only the KBox luckydraw)
3) The companies which I applied jobs to sold my number to these scammer companies... Or the 'job companies' are the scammers in the first place. Besides govt jobs (which i have no doubts at all that they won't leak any confidential info to outsiders), i applied to 2-3 jobs under jobstreet.com which now i think it looks kinda dubious.
4) I seldom give away my number to any surveys, esp what looks like insurance or MLM surveys. The only one i can remember is the bank survey during careerfair asking us to be insurance agents.
5) The travel agency (when i went to Genting) sold my number to them.

But i believe the most likely ones are point 1) or 3). Cos i realised that most people who kena are in their 20s to 30s... most of them are most probably jobseekers, so through resumes or application forms, they get our numbers... WTH...

Or if it's point 2) and 5), they went through the list and filter out the target group... which sounds less plausible.. But it still could happen.

I hope these bloody scammers would get to enjoy their free meal behind the bars soon~

Meanwhile let's spread the word around so these Cheena moneysuckers won't get their way!!

Badminton + Shopping at JP

Played badminton in the morning with sy and sh...
Then went to jp to eat... At Crystal Jade.
And i had a whole 'long' of xiaolongbaos to myself~~!! Hahaa!!

Then we moved on to shop~!!
HAha.. gSS sales!! How can we possibly miss it??

My best buy of the day: A super super comfy white formal covered shoe with some heel. For only $20 bucks!!! For the same comfi-ness, i think it would have worth at least about $70 bucks elsewhere~ hAha! Shiok man...

Plus L'oreal products are all 20% off!! Haha... lucky i didn't buy at Watson's the few times i'm tempted to when i passed by. Still not cheap though... But in any case, I'm starting to love John Little man.. Haha...

That's why i always say, departmental stores are simply the best!! :D

In fact a few wks ago, i bought a long... ermm, i dunno what you called that, a jacket or cardigan or just an outer layer of clothing?? (made of thin material kind) haha.. yar for only 16 bucks.. usual price $29.90~ Wooo~~ Shiok! At this BHG dept store, which i think is formerly Seiyu. I don't mind what name they use, as long as have great discounts can le.. Muahaha~~

Anyway back to today, we really did some serious shopping and we were all satisfied with our gss buys at jp. Haha~ In fact, we actually shopped till their shutters dropped sia... LolS~

But it's quite tiring though, cos we were on our feet most of the day. Just came back not long ago and my feet are still sore and tired... Better get some rest. Haha..

Ciao~

Food for thought...

Sometimes it takes one to step out of one's current situation to see the big picture and what's really going on.

Yeah, i admit i was very narrow in my scope in terms of goals, observation and whatever else in the past, and still am right now.

But thinking things through and pondering on what i want to achieve out of my career, and my life, and also what is it that is meaningful to me in my life has sorta make me clearer. Okay, though not a lot, but still, a bit is better than nothing rite? Haha..

I suddenly also understand truly that having goals in life really give life a very meaningful purpose. And i also finally get what it means by a person with goals will be more successful than a person without. Because a person with no direction has no clear motivation to succeed either. Hmmm...

I also finally understood why my sec sch friend pf suddenly shot up to become the top scholar of my swiss, when we 2 were almost on par during sec 1 & 2. She had long term goals.. she told me she aspires to be a zoologist or a marine biologist when we were sec 1!! (That time i only think of results, that's the furthest man.)

In any case, I am really thankful for having friends around me who make me realise that, especially ahgong (who alr kan tou hong cheng long ago and taught me to see the big picture of things, tho it takes quite awhile la huh. =X). HAha! I must also thank NUS education which put me through rigorous readings of journals that i actually find non-fiction books readable for the first time (Cos i've alr gone through the worst!). And i also thank myself for choosing psychology as a major (lolx..), and being in FASS (ok, mayb tt's not much of a choice, heh.). Cos i never regretted taking it and it allows me to discover my interest in social science~

Because my first choice is actually biz, and I used to like numbers and enjoy doing accounts. Even during primary school, when the teacher asked, i told her i want to be a business woman. lol... (Cos back then i alr know i don't like being a conventional teacher, lawyer or doctor.) And still thought i'm going to be that until i entered m1 and uni, and after taking the marketing module i'm totally convinced that the business world is simply not for me. I definitely can't handle the strong competition and high levels of office politics in biz world. And for accounts and finance, suddenly they all seem boring to me. Though it is still fun and satisfying to solve maths problems and balancing accounts, i don't think i want to spend my whole life just dealing with numbers.

Am happy i finally have some direction to what i want. But how many people in this world get to do what they like as a career? Plus it's kinda little late for me to receive higher training for it since i've graduated. But then again, late is better than never rite? heh..

Wish me luck in job search!! :D

CiaoS~

PS: Hey people, can update your blogs? I'm so bored of reading the same thing lar.. haha...

My old "About Me"

```Simple things make me hapPIE, little things make me lauGh, some things can make me aNgry, the rest can make me sAd...``` ```Though I never ever seemed to be, but little little thoughts and gestures can touch me easily to the heart...``` ```Hurting anyone is never my intention, though many a times words and actions may seem to imply so… But having a natural cursed mouth is not something which I have control over too...``` ```That’s all I know about myself, the rest is for you to find out... if you ever have the patience to. 3 weeks later after my exams...
... and man, i'm still slacking.. Argghhh...
I'm super restless sia.. Maybe cos i'm quite broke now also le, wan enjoy life also no money to enjoy anymore liao. I mean, what form of entertainment (that's fun) is free in Singapore? If you don't have the $$, there's simply almost nothing you can do here. Once you step out of the house, you must alr pay for the transport to go anywhere else in S'pore. Eating, Bowling, Movie, Coffee, Boardgames... Which of these don't require monies?? Never mind out of the house, even watching TV at home you also must pay for the TV subscription, electricity blah blah... Faints!
Anyway... cos i'm super restless, i decided to update my long not-updated blog.. And also update my blog a little so that at least in future i know what i've done during my graduation vacation. Lol...
Starting from last last last week (oops, heh.. din noe it's so long ago liaoz)...
13th May, Tues
Afternoon: Met up with yt and jj to discuss about genting trip. Because we wanna go before the sch hols (peak), so have to go and leave before 23rd. At Plaza Sing, went to the travel agency to find out more about the price. End up booking with them. Lol...
Cos the package is simply too good to resist~ For S$138, in total we got 2 First World rooms for 2 nights, 2-way coach trips, and 2 complimentary breakfasts each!!!
Evening: Met up with ws and wei for this GE talk with Adam Khoo, this young entrepreneur who became a miillionaire at 26. True enough, his talk is really inspirational, almost made me wanna sit for the test and join GE. Almost. But i think that this job will most probably be under my retirement plans.. hah.. I wan do other stuffs now.
14th May, Wed
The first Ethelonter 5 briefing. Met up with the rest of my group counselors as well as the rest of the others, know much more about the camp and also got the schedule for dry runs. I was kinda intimidated by the super high enthusiasm of the rest of the counselors sia. I really hope i'll get used to it sia.
15th May, Thurs
Went to this Shiseido talk by this pretty lady whom i think looks a little like Hebe. Overall, i think her talk was okay, though not real interesting but not boring either. But i guess the others don't think so. My AKC who sat next to me whispered, "Kill me please~" and even the two other Shiseido's representatives (i seriously don't know what is the purpose of their prescence, maybe just to accompany the speaker?) were playing around with their handphones while the speaker is talking. Hmmm... but nvm, i'm only there for the free samples~ (Which only turns out to be a facial wash and some oil blotters, when i thought got perfume or cosmetics.=s)
16th May, Friday
Went with yt and jq for kbox~ tried out lots of new english songs.. They have lots of updated and new ones with authentic MTVs!! Was quite surprised sia~~ Haa.. Then later we went back to NUS to book our gowns...
The graduates~~
...and i think i shouldn't have register so soon on impulse. In the end i mixed up my degree category and have to pay an extra $6 for the admin change. Damn. And the school didn't really specify the difference between Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Soc. Science. WTH, one is with honours, the other without. Meaning for social sciences in FASS with honours you get Bachelor of Soc. Sci., without, you get Bachelor of Arts. How on earth would we know that??!!
17th May, Saturday
rest at home.
18th May, Sunday - Flying Above Singapore
Was thinking that my grandma never had a chance to fly on a plane due to her leg problems, so thought that Singapore Flyer would be a good alternative for her to experience being at high altitudes and enjoying the view above~ haha.. So our whole family went, and due to my grandma's condition, we got a whole capsule for ourselves~!!! HA!
Whole capsule to ourselves~
At the beginning
At the Top of the Wheel~
2nd view from the bottom of the wheel
2nd view from the Top~
The End~~
What does your drawing say about YOU?
The results of your analysis say:
You tend to pursue many different activities simultaneously. When misfortune does happen, it doesn't actually dishearten you all that much.
You are a direct and forthright person. You like to get to the core of the issue right away, with few signs of hesitation.
You like following the rules and being objective. You are precise and meticulous, and like to evaluate decisions before making them.
Thoughts on flaws, criticisms and transparency...
Recent spate of events has set me thinking...
Why am i so prone to criticisms by others? Especially by friends, which is even worse.
Don't criticise others and you won't be criticise by others??
The thing is I usually don't criticise others at all, so why this critical treatment??
And its not because they are flawless or perfect sia.
But because i chose to keep quiet about it, not wanting to disturb the peaceful relationship.
But i just realised this "don't criticise others if you don't want to be criticised" theory don't work at all. If you don't criticise others, others would do that to you. And if you keep quiet and be nice to others, they would think they don't have as much flaws as you and that sorta give them the right to talk about you critically.
Treating others considerately may not equate to others giving you a similar treatment after all. So, why bother trying so hard to be so considerate, tactful and nice towards them when they don't even give a heck?
Defence! Why bear the insult?
When someone passed me a negative remark, i used to think "why bother to cover these flaws? After all, they are good friends already, and they probably have good intentions to change me for the better." Or when someone joked about my flaws, i used to think "it's okay, they are just kidding, no harm. Don't make a mountain out of a molehill".
But no, i realised if you keep quiet and don't defend yourself on the spot, others will think that you admit and agreed with them. That little little harm may thus accumulate to the mountain, when negative remarks and jokes occurs at higher frequency, at a greater level, and even to the point of hurtful insult. I sometimes wonder, what are they thinking? With increasing hurtful comments, are they trying to test my threshold of tolerance, or do they want to see my response when i reach that threshold? And recently that threshold has been greatly lowered, and if i do reach it, it's definitely not gonna be pretty.
And the part about their good intention? Nah... i realised (sadly) that most people criticise just so they can feel good about themselves, like putting others down while boosting their self-confidence or something. After all feeling good about oneself is the very most basic goal of every human, consciously or subconsciously (cited from ET's notes, thus not a sweeping statement). And also, if they really have good intentions, where's their good advice? Why only a truck full of criticisms but no suggestions or solutions to the problem?? Not only that, the tone of that person also tells a lot. Even a fool can differentiate between concern and plain mocking.
Transparency: Displaying too much of yourself?
Again, i used to think i really do have many flaws...while others seem to be flawless. Everyone has flaws. But perhaps, my main big flaw is that i'm super transparent to others that i don't really hide my unglam, my bad habits, and my whatever other flaws to others. While on the other hand, those seemingly "flawless others" are very good in hiding or "justifying" their own negative points. And because my flaws are known, others tend to up-play them, making them more salient to everyone else, including me, while they cover theirs well. For many years i foolishly believe in it, and that's probably why i lost confidence in myself along the way.
Yup, but a good number of events and some people has taught me not to reveal too much to another, esp flaws. And being nice is only for people who are nice to you. Being nice to someone who isn't to you is no longer called magnanimity, but now seen as foolishness, even to that same not nice someone whom you treat nicely.
Of course these are just my thoughts, and venting of my frustration. So there's no need to spark up a debate or anything. And it's not refering to a specific someone, but about a couple of events in general. May or may not apply to you, you be your own judge.
